“OTL I am so sorry it looks so horrible, I am so busy so I had to whip this quickly together for today…. since it is October 23, which is a very important day for us Hungarians. Today is the 56th anniversary of the revolution of 1956, which was when the Hungarians wanted the Communist Russian forces to draw out of Hungary, and they also wanted to end the Communist government. The rebel symbol was the hole in the middle of the Hungarian flag, from where they cut out the Communist symbol. The revolution of course was a failure, as Hungary was a communist government until 1989, the collapse of the Soviet Union.
Why this is so close to me: I actually have done a research project about the revolution, so I had my ask of family members. My parents have grown up under the goulash communism, which is the era of communism in Hungary after the revolution. My parents knew the least amount of information, due to the fact that it was illegal to teach about the revolution in school. What I have learned though was that the revolution was a success in the fact that Hungary was doing a lot better than other Communist countries, such as Czechoslovakia. My grandparents on the other hand actually lived at the time of the revolution. My grandmother told me, when I was playing cards with her this summer, that this activity was basicly all they did until the revolution was over on November 10. She also told me other stories such as how her brother, my great uncle, carried a gun around with him and patrolled the house.
I wanted to honor those who have fought on this day to thank them for the sacrifices they have made to help us live a better life.

EDIT: 2013 April 7th: I had this finished a while ago I just never updated it. I wasn't able to scan it so I just took another picture OTL
